In honor of the blog, I lugged my pocket-sized Sony to the stadium on Saturday afternoon to capture some of the sights at the match. I didn’t go overboard with the number of images, but they are enough to give people a good idea of how things are at Argentinos matches.

One important note: the fact that the stadium and crowd are safe enough to take a digital camera without concern of having it stolen is something that should not be overlooked.

If this post is well-received, I will make more in the future.

Nestled in the lazy streets of La Paternal neighborhood, Diego Armando Maradona stadium is not much to behold from the outside and can be missed if one is not looking for it. Still, the quaintness is nice.

The AAAJ inscription (Asociación Atletico Argentinos Juniors) is one of the many graffiti markings on the stadium’s walls.

There is no doubt as to the pregame dining options. Chorizos for everyone.

One section of Independiente fans 45 minutes or so before the match started.

The same section after the team has taken the field.

Argentinos fans attempting to hide their eyes from what is about to come…

And the teams have taken the field. Strangely, the disparity in talent is not readily apparent.

OOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Look at the flares!!! Ain’t they pretty??? (Special mention of Navarro keeping his distance and generally being concerned for his well-being)
