Caruso is definitely a rare breed. I'm willing to bet that given the time in one location and not following the typical Argentine pattern of two years or so and off to the next place, that Caruso would go through about 50 players until he found ones that meshed with his, ahum, mental issues.

He needs to win something with Newell's, or at the very least a couple of top threes and a long Copa Something-or-the-Other run before the big boys will look at him. I mean, he's the kind of guy that if you heard he went and took a dump in the visitor's goal, you wouldn't be shocked.

Rodrigo "El Rengo" Diaz has my vote for best nickname. Totally perfect for him. From what I've seen of him, he was fantastic at Independiente where he paired up well with Daniel Montenegro and he was just ok at Colón, but again, only has one foot and must be why he is still in Argentina.

I worry about his ego. Did you see where he came out and said "I can coach at River or Boca"? Uh, sure, Ricky...keep waiting for that phone call. His players played better under Gorosito...

Yeah, he is targeting a bunch of 2nd division guys, since we seem to be short of cash for the big time players. But I've got to say, his type of guys come cheaper and buy into his system whereas some of our older established players are getting dumped because they won't do what he asks.

All of the imports from last season, from those that worked out great (Pereira, Mercier, Escudero) to the abject failures (Saucedo--not yours) were the result of Caruso. He brought in something like 14 and most of brought the fire and energy that you would expect from that madman.
