New feature: Argentine round-up

By: Scott | February 14th, 2008

For the first time, I wrote a post only to have the contents disappear when I pressed “Save”. I wish I knew how to recover it, because it was quite brilliant. Here it is in truncated form:

Welcome, Jeremy! Please be better at this than me!

Copa Libertadores: Disappointing performances by San Lorenzo and River Plate (both lost 2 -0 on the road) in the first Matchday. They still have good chances of qualification to the knockout stages, though River is in the “Group of Death” (San Martin of Peru, América of Mexico, and Universidad Católica of Chile).  Arsenal and Boca have opportunities to redeem the country’s footballing reputation.

Clausura 2008: Lanús looked really good in their 1-0 win over Independiente, especially Lautaro Acosta (remember that name).  Arsenal also looked good over Huracán. There were some incorporation pains with River Plate, but they still looked strong. It was hard to read anything about the other teams in the first match.

The full version of this post was brilliant and thought-provoking; unfortunately, it was erased from existence and I don’t have the energy to rewrite it…sorry.
